Tantalus (2017)
Victoria & Albert Museum, London

A bank note is attached to a golden ribbon via a pulley. As you approach the note, it is raised out of reach.

The work takes its name from the figure of Ancient Greek myth, Tantalus. He was condemned to stand in a lake beneath hanging fruit. The water receded before he could drink and the fruit moved before he could eat.
